Maravilla Santa Barbara hosted a February 2021 “Let’s Dish” cooking demonstration featuring Maravilla’s Executive Chef, Porfirio Lemus & Senior Resource Group Corporate Director of Food Services, Sean Howard. 

 

These talented chefs prepared Chateaubriand served with Sautéed Julienne Vegetables, and Lava Cake with Fresh Berries. The lovely and talented Sales Counselor, Jessica Hines, filmed this video on the beautiful grounds at Maravilla.

Part of CALA’s Culinary Fall Forum competition, Chef. Priscilla O. at The Kensington baked sweet, mini pumpkin pies. Not only is it a delicious fall-themed dessert, but these cute pies double as décor on your table for fall. Take a look and be inspired this Thanksgiving!

A Beautiful, Outdoor Cooking Demonstration

In Santa Barbara, Maravilla's Executive Chef Porfirio L. showcased his expert culinary skills during the community's "Let's Dish" cooking demonstration.

Held on Maravilla's beautiful outdoor grounds, Chef Porfirio walked residents step by step through searing Atlantic salmon, dressing it with handmade pesto and tossing arugula salad as an accompaniment. This delicious entrée is just one of the many dishes that residents enjoy as a part of their gourmet dining menu.

A Concert of Strings

La Vida at Mission Viejo residents enjoyed the beautiful sounds of cellist Hitoshi Suzuki and harpist Tomoko Sato as they performed an ebullient concert of "three swans".

 

Residents enjoyed the warm summer weather while seated in the community’s peaceful courtyard as they listened to renditions of "The Swan" by Saint-Saens", "Song by the Black Swan" by Villa-Lobos, and the famous scene from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake.

Prickly Pear Margarita Mixology Class

Maravilla @ The Domain's Mixologist Tim taught residents and guests how to make their very own prickly pear margarita. While observing social distancing and precautionary measures, guests received all of the ingredients to concoct their own cocktail with Texan flair.

Let’s Dish Swordfish! 

In Santa Barbara, Maravilla residents enjoyed a "behind the scenes look" at the community's gourmet dining program with a virtual "Let's Dish" chef's chat.

 

Led by Maravilla's Executive Chef Porfirio Lemus, viewers enjoyed a demonstration of sautéing fresh and locally sourced wild-caught swordfish accompanied by savory heirloom tomatoes and summer vegetables. Residents also had the added benefit of tasting the dish for themselves on the evening’s dinner menu.

A Taste of Inspired Cuisine

Residents at Maravilla @ The Domain can get an in depth look at the community's gourmet dining with special “Chef’s Chat” events featuring Executive Chef Seth T.

 

At this special engagement, residents were able to watch step-by-step as Seth created a delicious, Asian-inspired five spice seared ahi tuna on a wonton crisp with avocado mousse. The event was broadcasted on Zoom as well for those who wanted to enjoy the demo from the comfort of their homes.

Residents and guests from SRG communities nationwide enjoyed an interactive talk with Dr. Payam Parvinchiha, Medical Director of CareMore Health.

 

Dr. Parvinchiha shared easy, science-backed tips on ways that one can keep the mind, body and soul as healthy as they can possibly be. He also shared tips on the flu shot and advice for the upcoming flu season.

Virtual Cooking Class Creates Lobster Risotto

Those at Maravilla Scottsdale are no strangers to fine cuisine crafted by the community's dining team. Residents can now try their hand at expert recipes at monthly virtual cooking classes.

 

Led over Zoom by Maravilla's Executive Chef Erika, attendees enjoyed the convenience of having the ingredients delivered directly to their doorstep and step by step guidance on making delicious Lobster Risotto with English Peas. 

Maravilla Hosts the Santa Barbara Symphony

Residents at Maravilla were delighted when the Santa Barbara Symphony visited their community and performed a lovely array of classical pieces. Those attending were able to socially distance for the outdoor performance and enjoy the sunny Santa Barbara afternoon.

The community is pleased to have the Symphony back in September for another performance that will also be broadcasted virtually on Zoom.

Let's Dish! Chocolate Cream Pie

If you’ve ever wanted an inside look at the steps behind creating some of the most decadent culinary treats, La Siena’s “Let’s Dish” video showcases the community’s Chef Hoffman, who leads viewers step by step in creating Chocolate Cream Pie.

 

A resident favorite, watch as he mixes the chocolate filling and delicately decorates the pie with whipped cream. The community’s “Let’s Dish” sessions are a great way to get an inside look behind the delicious daily offerings that are a part of La Siena’s robust dining program. Enjoy!

On July 4th, residents at Maravilla Scottsdale listened to a firsthand account from resident, Colonel Philip E. Smith, a seven year prisoner of war held in solitary confinement. Colonel Smith is shared a timely, uplifting and empowering narrative about his experience and his strategies to cope through hard times.
